The Ķemeri resort park dates back to 1838. The original network of paths has survived, and architectural elements typical of landscape parks – pavilions and rotundas – stand out. The Vēršupīte stream flows through the park and its bridges have evocative names – the Nopūtu (of Sighs), Kaprīžu (of Whims) and the Muzikālais (Musical) bridges. 19th-century artificial Mīlestības (Love) Island lies at the end of the canal, with its stone rotunda, once a popular coffee pavilion. In 1933, the foundation stone was laid for the Ķemeri hotel building, where the Ķemeri sanatorium was later set up, Eižens Laube being the architect. The building is one of the most striking examples of neo-eclecticism in Latvian architecture.
